In December a retiring collection at the school Carol Service raised £300 for Cancer Research UK. On the final day of the autumn term Trinity and Queen’s houses organised a non-uniform day and fashion show in aid of Habitat for Humanity.
In 1976 Habitat for Humanity was founded with the sole aim of tackling poverty housing on a global scale. More than thirty years later the organisation is working in 90 countries around the world and have built 300,000 homes in partnership with people in need of safe, decent housing. Mr and Mrs Claus made a guest appearance to distribute sweets to the pupils as they watched the fashion show. The event raised a total of £500.
Gillian Phair (Trinity) and Rebecca Mann (Queen’s) present Mrs Barbara Johnston with the proceeds of their fundraiser. Mrs Johnston is to visit Mozambique later this year with a Habitat for Humanity team to help build new homes.
