Success at All-Ireland level in Contact 7’s

After their marvellous Ulster Championship win at Kingspan in March the Collegiate Rugby squad’s winning streak continued in the inaugural Contact 7’s competition.     After the initial rounds where the team did not concede a match they emerged alongside Monaghan Collegiate as worthy representatives for Ulster in the provincial rounds.  Here again they did not concede a match against the best teams from the other three provinces, powering through to the semi-finals where they beat Monaghan Collegiate by 10 to 2.  In the All-Ireland final in the Aviva they ran our against Sacred Heart from Tullamore; in a very evenly balanced match between two superb sides the score was five all at full time and the match went to a golden try where Sacred Heart got the try in first.  Ulster champions in Tag Rugby for the seventh time and one of the top two teams in Ireland in Contact 7’s: there is much to be proud of for the Collegiate Team and their coaches Terry and Aly Finlay and team manager, Dee Colville.
