 Principal’s Welcome

On behalf of the Collegiate Grammar School community I welcome you warmly to our website.  We hope that you will find this information useful and that you will enjoy this snapshot of school life.

The Collegiate Grammar School is a day school attended by about 500 girls aged 11-18 drawn from all over County Fermanagh and into Tyrone.  It is a ‘controlled’ school under the Western Education and Library Board and it is open equally to girls of any religion or of none.

Within our school community it is our aim to encourage all of our pupils to make the most of their individual potential in a challenging yet supportive environment.  We hope that they will enjoy the various aspects of their school experience and gain through it the knowledge, skills and confidence to make their own unique contribution to society in the future.

We are proud of our strong academic tradition and reputation and we constantly seek to develop and extend the learning experiences and opportunities we offer.  We recognise too the vital role which a vibrant extra-curricular life plays in building the girls’ enjoyment, their sense of achievement and their confidence in working with others and we seek to offer as wide a range of sporting, musical and extra-curricular clubs as possible.

Our sense of community is strong in the Collegiate.  We are privileged to have a highly committed teaching, office, technical and ancillary staff team who work to the benefit of the girls in their care.  We are also very conscious of the many strands of support from the wider community which underpin the school’s success, not least of which is the positive and much valued support of our parents.  In turn we also wish to foster the girls’ sense of responsibility to their wider community and we encourage them to be active participants in community activities.

We are fortunate to pursue these aims in a very pleasant learning environment where we enjoy excellent facilities.  Following the major building and refurbishment programme which was completed in 2002 the accommodation blends the listed Traditional Building, the refurbished Malone Building and the new Millennium Building.

This combination of the traditional with the new encapsulates the spirit of the Collegiate.  The values and ethos of the school which embody respect for self and respect for others remain constant while the experiences offered are continuously evolving in adapting to the changing needs of the girls who come through our doors.  This is the spirit which has allowed the school to flourish during the last seventy five years and it is in this spirit that we look forward to serving the needs of future generations of Collegians.
