 Sixth Form
ADMISSION TO YEARS 13 AND 14

We are keen to encourage girls from local schools to consider joining our school community to take the AS/A Level courses we offer. The normal minimum general requirement for consideration for entry will be at least six different results at GCSE Level at Grade C or above, normally to include English and Mathematics. The minimum GCSE total score should be 9 where A*=4, A=3, B=2 and C=1.

Satisfying this general requirement does not guarantee acceptance to study a particular subject or subjects as there are specific subject entry requirements. Sometimes there can be considerable pressure of demand for places in some subjects and not all applicants meeting the minimum entry requirements for those subjects can always be accepted. Intending applicants should consult the school for further details.

Over the past number of years we have been able to take all those who applied to join Year 13. However if there are more applicants than places, candidates will be placed in a rank order based on the total score of their best six GCSE grades and places allocated in strict adherence to this order. For this purpose A* will count as a score of 4 points, A as 3, B as 2 and C as 1. In a tie-breaker situation each girl will be scored on her overall GCSE performance.

Applicants must also have a positive record of conduct, attendance and punctuality during their previous years of secondary schooling.

These entrance requirements apply equally to those who are already pupils at the Collegiate School and to those entering from elsewhere. This means that those girls joining Year 13 from other schools will not be disadvantaged in any way.

Girls will take 3 or 4 AS subjects In Year 13. This will be each girl’s decision after guidance interviews take place in
August.

An Information evening for prospective Sixth Formers will be held in the Spring Term.  See the local press for details or contact the school.
